Helping Homeless Animals

Dedicated to helping save homeless animals in shelters throughout the U.S.

Picture
There are over 5000 shelters throughout the United States, they receive between 5 and 7 million animals annually, of these more than half are euthanized. The term euthanized can mean a lethal injection administered intraveneously, a lethal injection administered directly into the heart (heartstick) or killed by being confined in a metal box that is then filled with poison gas, where they die due to lack of oxygen and toxic overload of carbon monoxide. Many of these
animals are healthy young happy animals who were simply unwanted. Most of these deaths are due to owners who do not spay or neuter their pets. Many of the other animals abandoned in shelters spent their lives as loyal family members and when they became old or ill, the owners dumped them to avoid providing them medical care.

Helping Rescues Save Lives

In addition to rescuing animals from shelters, Open Hearts Rescue attempts to supplement the funds other rescues need to save lives. Since many of the animals abandoned in shelters come from uncaring homes, they have not received the proper medical care needed and require expensive medical attention to become adoptable into a forever home. Most rescues struggle to make ends meet, and are managed by people who do not have the time required to raise funds to cover these expenses.
Open Hearts Rescue strives to maintain a financial buffer for these unforeseen expenses. We do this through fundraisers and the donations from our sponsors. If you want to help us keep these funds available you can donate through the following link, or by mailing a check to:
